10th Graders:
We will begin our demonstration speeches next week! Your outline should be formatted the same as for the informative speech; therefore, you may access the speech outline skeleton on the previous post to help you type your outline. Remember, if you are bringing food, you must bring enough for the entire class to sample. This avoids possible conflicts that could arise because of jealousy, etc. Good luck on your demonstration speeches!! This will wrap us up for the year, so I hope all of you do your best and end the year with a wonderful grade.

I can’t believe that the second semester is already here. Whether you are ready for it or not, we have A LOT going on this semester. I have put together a brief list of some things my classes can expect this semester.
10th Grade (We are going to cram like crazy for the writing assessment and graduation exam. Bear with me during the 3rd nine weeks, and I promise the 4th nine weeks will be much better. Just think, you have the opportunity to give speeches in front of your classmates. How fun does that sound?)
- Writing skills practice for the writing assessment
- Alabama Direct Assessment of Writing- Feb. 17
- Grammar review for the AHSGE
- Reading skills review for the AHSGE
- AHSGE- March 1-5
- The beloved speech unit (Expect to give 3+ speeches.)
9th Grade
- Grammar, grammar, grammar…..Your graduation exam will be here before you know it!
- Writing assignments to help us prepare for next year’s assessment.
- The Outsiders
- The Witch of Blackbird Pond
- Romeo and Juliet
Also, I have attached a copy of the class update that I passed out on January 6th. If you turn in a signed copy of this note by Friday, January 15th, you will receive a “free 100.” I won’t be giving out extra copies of this handout, so if your dog eats it, you still have an opportunity to print out another one. Don’t forget to leave a comment to this post by January 15th to receive even more bonus points.

If you are looking at our class blog, it is probably because you need to get your make-up assignments. I have been having an extreme problem with students simply not completing their make-up work. Remember, you only have 5 school days to make-up tests or class work after you return to school. No exceptions!
